Jonah's 12th Birthday
We celebrated Jonah's 12th birthday on Friday. He invited his buddies over for pizza and a movie. There wasn't any school on Friday - so apparently the whole district was celebrating too. He has already built all of his Legos and is planning how to spend his money.

Snow

Yesterday, we drove home through a brief snow storm. The snowflakes were huge! I don't think I've ever seen such big snowflakes. If I had caught one, it would have filled a 1/4 cup measuring cup. Isaac and Jonah were so excited to see the snow. It was amazing. So we parked the Jeep in our garage and the three of us stood in the driveway with our mouths opened to the sky. The flakes were wet and heavy and would fill your mouth. Isaac thought it was so much fun. He would laugh and giggle and then open his mouth to the sky. Isaac loved the snow, but I think it was Jonah and I opening our mouths towards the sky that he thought was so funny.
After a few minutes, I ran to get my camera, only to discover that the over-sized snowflakes had disappeared. But I took a bunch of pictures of Jonah and Isaac. This one of Isaac is my favorite. It's one of those times where the camera caught the perfect moment. You can click on the picture to see it full size (it's worth it to see his cute face up close).

Jonah's Birthday Party
Jared, Chandler, Jaylen, Jonah, Noah, Michael (below) and Andrew
It's not Jonah's Birthday, yet. But today he had a little pizza party with his friends. They all watched Transformers. Well, actually most of them didn't watch the movie, but they seemed to be having a good time. Jonah had treat bags for each of them that were full of candy from China (White Rabbits), Japan (Muskat Grape gummies and some hard fizzy candies), and Germany (Fred Ferkels and candies that looked like gummy legos).

Mornings
I think that Isaac is a morning person. He wakes up each morning around 6:45. There really is no sleeping-in at our house. I'll first hear him humming to himself. He will sometimes hum (and let us sleep) for ten minutes. At that point, one of us will pull him out. If Jonah gets him, then we're likely to find both of them all cuddled up in Jonah's bed, maybe watching movies on Jonah's camera. Jonah, as you can tell, loves sleeping with multiple pillows and blankets. I found them cuddling together one morning like this. If I get Isaac out of bed, he might lay next to me for a few minutes (with Jonah almost always joining us). But, then Isaac wants to eat breakfast ("mo coco" is what he said today). If Trent gets him out of his crib, then Isaac instantly becomes a daddy's boy for the rest of the day. If Noah gets him, then they'll go sit on Noah's bedroom vent together. In fact, it's part of the morning routine now, to spend some time each morning on Noah's vent.
Holidays, and some Saturdays, are exceptions to the morning routine. Since we aren't having to get to church meetings, orchestra, work, or school, we'll all try hard to sleep in. As I said before, Isaac doesn't sleep in. So, he is usually the first one in our bed. It usually doesn't take long for all five of us to be cuddled together in our king-sized bed. It's one of my most favorite moments.

One Pumpkin - One Pizza
Trent renamed our extended family Halloween party this year to One Pumpkin - One Pizza (since we really don't watch two movies anymore). We may resurrect the One Funny - One Scary as the boys get older. Anyway, these are pictures from our visit to the Big Red Barn. We're on the hayride enroute to pick out pumpkins prior to the party. Notice that Noah's braces are gone. He has to wear two retainers 24/7 for the next 6 months. Afterwards, he only has to wear them at night.

Conference Weekend - October 6
[Noah & Jonah]
Holly, Jackson & Quincy came to be babysat during the afternoon session of conference. The kids all played a new conference game. They picked 6 words and then a small treat to go with each word (peanuts, raisins, butterscotch chips, Cheerios, M&Ms, jelly beans etc.). Then everytime they heard their word, they would get one of that treat. The game really helped the kids to pay attention. Jackson even stayed put for one whole talk. Noah listened to almost all of conference. We spent the Sunday conference sessions at Grandma & Grandpa Tams' house.
